Very important is a road loss of third ranked PAOK (10-6) against fifth ranked Promitheas (11-5) on Saturday night. Visiting PAOK was crushed by Promitheas in Patras 82-59. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of PAOK. The game was mostly controlled by Promitheas. PAOK was better in fourth quarter 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. PAOK was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Octavius Ellis (208-93, college: Cincinnati) who helped to win the game recording 12 points and 9 rebounds. International Christos Saloustros (201-90) contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Promitheas players scored in double figures. International power forward Vangelis Margaritis (203-82) replied with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and international Linos-Spyridon Chrysikopoulos (206-92) added 13 points in the effort for PAOK. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Promitheas have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with AEK and Peristeri GS. PAOK at the other side dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. Promitheas will play against AEK (#4) in Athens in the next round. PAOK will play at home against Holargos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
