We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when their biggest opponent Toshiba Thunders (22-15) were defeated on the road by third ranked Kyoto Hannar. (20-17) 73-69 on Saturday. Zimbabwean-American Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) stepped up and scored 25 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and American center David Simon (208-82, college: PFW) chipped in 22 points and 11 rebounds. At the losing side international power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds and the former international swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) scored 20 points. Four Toshiba Thunders players scored in double figures. Toshiba Thunders' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Kyoto Hannar.. They maintain third place with 20-17 record having twelve points less than leader Ryukyu GK, which they share with SeaHorses. Loser Toshiba Thunders keep the second position with 15 games lost. Kyoto Hannar. will face again league's second-placed Toshiba Thunders in Kanagawa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
