Regular Season Round 36: Toyotsu FE - Nishinomiya S. 83-80

Third-ranked Nishinomiya S. (17-19) was very close to win a game against second ranked Toyotsu FE (23-13) in Nagoya. Toyotsu FE managed to secure only three-point victory 83-80. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Nishinomiya S.. Toyotsu FE players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Josh Hawkinson (208-95, college: Washington St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 18 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and the other American import forward Cherif Sow (201-92) who added 26 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Toyotsu FE's coach Ryuji Watanabe allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American center Brad Waldow (208-91, college: St.Mary's, CA, agency: Octagon Europe) with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 17 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) and swingman Naoki Tani (193-88) scored 20 points. Toyotsu FE maintains second position with 23-13 record having five points less than leader Shinshu BW, which they share with Sendai 89ers. Nishinomiya S. at the other side keeps the third place with 19 games lost. They share the position with Fukushima. Toyotsu FE will again play against Nishinomiya S. (#3) in Hyogo in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Nishinomiya S. will have a break next round.
