No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Olimpia Matera (15-5) beat on the road 15th ranked Catania Alfa (3-17) 98-80 on Saturday. Olimpia Matera made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Catania Alfa was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Daniele Merletto (175-93) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Naturalized Argentinian power forward Enzo-Damian Cena (200-92) contributed with 14 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Olimpia Matera players scored in double figures. Alessandro Agosta (204-84) replied with 25 points and 8 rebounds and DR Congolese forward Joseph Vita-Sadi (198-97) added 18 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Catania Alfa. Despite that victory Olimpia Matera went down to fifth position (B) due to points difference. Newly promoted Catania Alfa keeps the fifteenth place with 17 games lost. Olimpia Matera will face Palermo GB (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Catania Alfa will play against Viola RC and hope to win that game.
