Regular Season Round 37: Osaka Evessa - SeaHorses 78-98

The game between closely ranked teams ended with third ranked Aishin Sea Horses' (20-17) road victory over 4th placed Osaka Evessa (14-23) 98-78 on Saturday. Aishin Sea Horses dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Osaka Evessa's 42. They outrebounded Osaka Evessa 38-24 including a 31-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Aishin Sea Horses looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American forward Kennedy Meeks (208-95, college: N.Carolina) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and the former international swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) chipped in 34 points (!!!) (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field). Four Aishin Sea Horses players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Josh Harrellson (208-89, college: Kentucky) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks and the former international forward Naoya Kumagae (194-90) scored 14 points and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Aishin Sea Horses. They maintain third place with 20-17 record having twelve points less than leader Ryukyu GK, which they share with Kyoto Hannar. Osaka Evessa lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the fourth position with 23 games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will have a break next round. Osaka Evessa will play again at home against Aishin Sea Horses (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
