Regular Season Round 19: Mitsubishi K. - Niigata R. 75-60

There was no surprise in Nagoya where 12th ranked Niigata R. (1-18) was defeated by fourth ranked Mitsubishi K. (13-6) 75-60 on Saturday. Mitsubishi K. made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Strangely Niigata R. outrebounded Mitsubishi K. 71-58 including a 37-26 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for international power forward Layla Takehara (183-0) who led her team to a victory scoring 18 points and 6 rebounds. Power forward Yuka Kosuge (181-91) helped adding 10 points and 11 rebounds. At the losing side forward Saki Iijima (172-92) responded with 19 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Momo Miyasaka (163-94) scored 12 points and 8 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mitsubishi K. moved-up to third place, which they share with Denso Iris. Niigata R. lost their third game in a row. They stay dead last with 18 lost games. Mitsubishi K. will again meet bottom-ranked Niigata R. (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Niigata R. will have a break next round.
