The game had a very big importance for second-ranked United as it allowed them to take a leadership position. United defeated 7th ranked New Zealand Breakers in Melbourne 111-102. United made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by New Zealand Breakers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of international guard Mitchell McCarron (191-92, college: MSU Denver) who helped to win the game recording 25 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. American forward DJ Kennedy (198-89, college: St.John's) contributed with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. United's coach Dean Vickerman used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Shawn Long (208-93, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Pensack Sports) replied with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists and New Zealand guard Shea Ili (184-92) added 18 points and 5 assists in the effort for New Zealand Breakers.
