There was a minor upset when their close opponent Shiga L-Stars (8-30) were defeated at home by sixth ranked Hokkaido L. (10-28) 78-63. Hokkaido L. players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Spanish center David Doblas (206-81) notched a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and Canadian-Italian power forward Marc Trasolini (206-90, college: Santa Clara) supported him with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Hokkaido L. players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 17 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists by American forward Marqus Blakely (201-88, college: Vermont) did not help to save the game for Shiga L-Stars. Nigerian-American power forward Gani Lawal (206-88, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Octagon Europe) added 17 points and 9 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hokkaido L. maintains sixth position with 10-28 record, which they share with Yokohama BC. Shiga L-Stars at the other side keep the sixth place with 30 games lost. Hokkaido L.'s next round opponent will be league's leader Niigata Albirex at home and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
