Thirteenth-ranked VL Pesaro (6-12) made lots of trouble for second ranked Umana Venezia (13-5) on Sunday. The visitors from Venezia managed to secure only three-point victory 89-86. However their fans expected much easier game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Umana Venezia made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was Greek-American swingman Michael Bramos (196-87, college: Miami, OH) who scored 22 points and 5 rebounds. American point guard Julyan Stone (198-88, college: UTEP) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Umana Venezia players scored in double figures. Umana Venezia's coach Walter De Raffaele used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard James Blackmon (193-95, college: Indiana) who recorded 29 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!) and his fellow American import swingman Lamond Murray-Jr (196-94, college: Pepperdine) added 17 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Umana Venezia have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 13-5 record having just three points less than leader AX Armani. VL Pesaro at the other side keeps the thirteenth place with 12 games lost. Umana Venezia are looking forward to face Dolomiti En.
