Regular Season Round 17: Gimle Pride - Asker 73-45

An interesting game for Gimle Pride (13-2) which hosted in Bergen 4th placed Asker (7-9). Second ranked Gimle Pride had an easy win 73-45. It looked good early as Asker took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Gimle Pride had a 13-4 second period charge getting the lead and Asker was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 45-73. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Asker to just 4 points in second quarter. Gimle Pride forced 27 Asker turnovers and had a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Guard Julie Winther (178-87) stepped up and scored 9 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and guard Sigrid Hardie (164-94) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. Gimle Pride's coach felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. International forward Ingrid Selvik (178-92) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 17 rebounds and power forward Kari Kyrkjebo (182-1) scored 9 points and 5 assists. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Gimle Pride. They maintain second place with 13-2 record having four points less than leader Ullern. Asker lost their third game in a row. They keep the fourth position with nine games lost. Gimle Pride will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Asker will play on the road against Hoybraten (#6) in Oslo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
