Regular Season Round 31: Tokyo Cinq R. - Tokyo Excel. 76-97

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Tokyo: Tokyo Excel. (#1) and Tokyo Cinq R. (#6). Tokyo Cinq R. was crushed at home by 21 points 76-97 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Tokyo Excel. made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Tokyo Excel. brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. American players dominated also this game. It was a great evening for forward Jordan Faison (201-94, college: Cal Poly Pomona) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 blocks. Center Ryan Stephan (208-94, college: Colorado Mesa) helped adding 28 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Tokyo Excel.'s coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side forward Chris Olivier (203-92, college: Oklahoma St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds and center Joe Wolfinger (216-85, college: Citadel) scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. Tokyo Excel. maintains first place with 22-2 record. Tokyo Cinq R. at the other side keeps the sixth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Kagoshima. Tokyo Excel. will play against league's second-placed Toyoda Gosei in Aichi in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tokyo Cinq R. will play on the road against Kagoshima (#7) in Renova and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
