Regular Season Round 18: Haukar - KR 83-74

An interesting game took place in Hafnarfjordur where higher ranked KR (11-7) was upset on the court of ninth ranked Haukar (8-10) 83-74. KR was ahead by 3 points after three quarters before a 26-14 charge of Haukar, which allowed them to win the game. They made 16-of-18 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Strangely KR outrebounded Haukar 43-31 including a 21-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a good game for American Russell Woods (203-94, college: Missouri) who led his team to a victory with 27 points and 7 rebounds. International forward Hjalmar Stefansson (196-96) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American forward Julian Boyd (201-90, college: LIU Brooklyn) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists and international forward Kristofer Acox (200-93, college: Furman) added 16 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for KR. Four Haukar and five KR players scored in double figures. KR's coach Ingi Thor Steinthorsson rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Haukar moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Grindavik and IR. Defending champion KR keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. Haukar's next round opponent will be higher ranked Keflavik (#4) on the road and it may be quite challenging game. KR will play against Grindavik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
