Regular Season Round 17: Gran Canaria - Granada 68-50

Everything went according to plan when ninth ranked Gran Canaria (8-9) defeated 12th ranked Granada (5-12) in Las Palmas 68-50 on Thursday. Gran Canaria forced 21 Granada turnovers and had a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard Sparkle Taylor (178-95, college: UTEP) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points and 4 assists. Senegalese center Ndeye Fatou (187-94, college: S.Nazarene) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. American forward Maryah Sydnor (185-93, college: Appalachian St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds and Latvian center Marta Miscenko (193-95, college: Wingate) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Granada. Granada's coach Quique Gutierrez let to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the third consecutive win for Gran Canaria. They maintain ninth place in Group B with 8-9 record. Granada lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with 12 games lost. Gran Canaria will face league's leader Campus Promete in Logrono in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Granada will play at home against Leganes (#3) and hope to win that game.
