Regular Season Round 16: Snaefell - Hottur 36-122
Date: February 8, 2019
The game in Stykkisholmur supposed to be also quite interesting. Third ranked Hottur (11-4) played at the court of 7th ranked Snaefell (1-15). Hottur smashed Snaefell 122-36 on Friday. The game without a history. Hottur led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Snaefell to just 5 points in third quarter. Hottur held Snaefell to an opponent 20.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 61.9 percent accuracy of the winners and made 34-of-39 free shots (87.2 percent) during the game, while Snaefell only scored ten points from the stripe. Hottur forced 21 Snaefell turnovers and outrebounded them 47-23 including a 38-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Charles Clark (188-96, college: Carson-Newman) who helped to win the game recording 30 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws) and American-German forward Andre Hughes (203-94, college: E.New Mexico) who added 20 points and 13 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) during the contest. Five Hottur players scored in double figures. At the losing side naturalized American forward Darrell Flake (193-80, college: McKendree) responded with 6 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Dawid Karlsson (180-0) scored 7 points and 5 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hottur moved-up to second place. Loser Snaefell keeps the seventh position with 15 games lost. Hottur will meet at home Hamar (#5) in the next round. Snaefell will play against Fjolnir in Reykjavik and hope to win that game.
