Regular Season Round 20: Le Portel - Gravelines 82-87
Date: February 8, 2019
There was no surprise when 16th ranked Le Portel (6-14) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Gravelines-Dunkerque (12-8) 87-82. Gravelines-Dunkerque made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American guard Karvel Anderson (188-91, college: Robert Morris) who scored that evening 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import point guard Kendall Anthony (173-93, college: Richmond) supported him with 24 points and 4 assists. Even 20 points and 8 rebounds by American power forward Darrell Williams (203-89, college: Tex.A&M-Comm., agency: BeoBasket) did not help to save the game for Le Portel. Guard Benoit Mangin (188-88) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gravelines-Dunkerque moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Le Portel lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixteenth position with 14 games lost. Gravelines-Dunkerque's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Olympique Antibes (#18) at home which should be an easy win for them. Le Portel will play against the league's leader ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket and hope to win that game.
