The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Marbella as it allowed them to take a leadership position in Group D-A. Marbella smashed 5th ranked Cazorla at home 86-65. Marbella dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Cazorla's 22. Marbella forced 19 Cazorla turnovers and outrebounded them 41-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Cazorla's players. The winners were led by American swingman Charles Knowles (196-93, college: William Penn) who scored that evening 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Senegalese center Bruno Diatta (208-96) supported him with 13 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks. Four Marbella players scored in double figures. Marbella's coach Francis Tome felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 23 points by American point guard Sadeeq Bello (175, college: NW Ohio) did not help to save the game for Cazorla. DR Congolese-Canadian guard Haboubacar Mutombo (196, college: W.Carolina) added 16 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Cazorla at the other side keeps the fifth place with nine games lost. Cazorla will play next round against Almeria trying to get back on the winning streak. Marbella will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Coin on the road.
