Very important is a road loss of second ranked Ardoi (14-3) against sixth ranked Cortegada (9-7) on Saturday night. Visiting Ardoi was defeated by Cortegada in a tough game in Vilagarcia Arousa 58-62. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Ardoi. Cortegada made 21-of-26 charity shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Cristina Loureiro (183-94) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and guard Sara Gomez (172-86, agency: ProDep Management) chipped in 12 points and 6 assists. Four Cortegada players scored in double figures. Argentinian forward Maria Lineira (182-83) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and Itziar Arregui (-91) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. The victory was the third consecutive win for Cortegada. They maintain sixth place in Group A with 9-7 record. Newly promoted Ardoi keeps the second position with three games lost. Cortegada will play against GDKO Bizkaia (#8) in Galdakao in the next round. Ardoi will play on the road against Rioja (#5) in Azkoitia and hopes to get back on the winning track.
