Everything went according to plan when seventh ranked Gijon Basket (10-6) beat at home 11th ranked Betanzos (6-10) 86-73 on Saturday. Worth to mention a great performance of Canadian forward Ryan Ejim (201-93, college: Carleton) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds and American power forward Malik Wineglass (203-93, college: Harris-Stowe St.) who added 21 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Five Gijon Basket players scored in double figures. Senegalese power forward Abdou Thiam (204-98) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 17 rebounds and American guard Thomas Cooper (196-92, college: Calgary) scored 20 points. Gijon Basket have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place in Group A-B, which they share with Estudiantes L. and Leon. Betanzos lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with ten games lost. Gijon Basket will face Carbajosa (#9) on the road in the next round. Betanzos will play against Leon and hope to win that game.
