Regular Season Round 19: Varese - Ponzano 60-68

Everything went according to plan when fourteenth ranked Ponzano (5-14) beat on the road 16th ranked Varese (2-17) 68-60 on Saturday. It was a great evening for Australian swingman Alex Ciabattoni (183-94) who led her team to a victory scoring 28 points and 8 rebounds. Center Gloria Vian (190-89) helped adding 12 points. At the losing side guard Francesca Misto (176-95) responded with 20 points and power forward Elena Misto (177-98) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Ponzano maintains fourteenth place in A2 with 5-14 record. Varese at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the sixteenth position with 17 games lost. Ponzano will face higher ranked Marghera (#9) in Venezia in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Varese will play on the road against Bolzano AV (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
