Very expected game when 16th ranked Provence Basket (6-14) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Monaco (11-9) 78-69. Monaco outrebounded Provence Basket 36-21 including 24 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The winners were led by international Yakuba Ouattara (194-92, agency: BeoBasket) who scored that evening 29 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Bosnian center Elmedin Kikanovic (211-88, agency: BeoBasket) supported him with 20 points. Monaco's coach Saso Filipovski used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 17 points and 4 assists by American Ronald Lewis (193-84, college: Ohio St., agency: Pensack Sports) did not help to save the game for Provence Basket. His fellow American import swingman Malik Hairston (198-87, college: Oregon) added 16 points for the guests. Four Provence Basket players scored in double figures. Monaco have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Bourg and Strasbourg. Newly promoted Provence Basket keeps the sixteenth position with 14 games lost. Monaco's next round opponent will be Cholet Basket (#15) at home and are hoping to win another game. Provence Basket will play against Chalon/Saor and hope to win that game.
