Regular Season Round 13: HoNsU - HNMKY 96-103

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Helsinki: HNMKY (#6) and HoNsU (#7). HoNsU was defeated at home 96-103 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 103-96. HNMKY dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to HoNsU's 48. Worth to mention a great performance of Niklas Vallila (193-1) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds. Power forward Iiro Tuomi (198-2) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Guard Tiitus Kuukkanen (193-0) answered with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists and Veikko Niskanen (189-2) added 27 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for HoNsU. Five HNMKY and four HoNsU players scored in double figures. HNMKY maintains sixth place with 7-6 record. HoNsU lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with nine games lost. HNMKY are looking forward to face higher ranked KTP (#5) in Kotka in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. HoNsU's supporters also look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Helsinki to the arena Rocks.
