Regular Season Round 21: Catz - HyPo 67-73

Korisliiga top team - HyPo (16-5) added another victory to their record. This time they beat fifth ranked Catz Lappeenranta (12-9) 73-67. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Catz Lappeenranta. It looked good early as Catz Lappeenranta took a 12-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then HyPo had a 30-16 second period charge getting the lead and Catz Lappeenranta was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 67-73. The best player for the winners was American guard Randi Brown (170-96, college: New Orleans) who scored 34 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. Her fellow American import guard Jessica January (170-95, college: DePaul) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Valencia McFarland (163-91, college: Mississippi) who recorded 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Russian power forward Elena Reshetko (184-86) added 18 points and 7 rebounds respectively. HyPo maintains first place with 16-5 record. Catz Lappeenranta at the other side keeps the fifth position with nine games lost. HyPo's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Torpan Pojat (#10) in Helsinki and are hoping to win another game. Catz Lappeenranta will play on the road against Tapiolan Honka (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
