Regular Season Round 20: Olivar - Cornella 90-92

There was a small surprise in Zaragoza where eleventh ranked Cornella (6-10) edged 8th ranked Olivar (8-8) 92-90 on Saturday. Cornella made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Olivar was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Xavi Guirao (190-87) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Nestor Zamora (180-84) who added 20 points and 4 assists during the contest. Center Jaime Pradilla (206-1) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and Venezuelan power forward Jose Ascanio (204-96) scored 19 points and 8 rebounds. Five Olivar players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Cornella moved-up to tenth place in Group C-A, which they share with Valls Nutrion. Loser Olivar dropped to the seventh position with eight games lost. Cornella will face higher ranked Esparreguera (#3) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
