Regular Season Round 19: Polski Cukier - Anwil 80-89

The game between third ranked Twarde Pierniki (15-4) and fourth ranked Anwil (14-4) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Twarde Pierniki was defeated by Anwil in a tough game in Torun 80-89. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Twarde Pierniki. Anwil looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for American Chase Simon (201-89, college: Detroit Mercy) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points. Serbian power forward Nikola Markovic (208-89) helped adding 5 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Anwil's coach Igor Milicic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American point guard Robert Lowery (188-87, college: Dayton) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 assists and Nigerian-American point guard Michael Umeh (188-84, college: UNLV) scored 20 points. Four Twarde Pierniki players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains fourth place with 14-4 record. Twarde Pierniki at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. Anwil are looking forward to face Spojnia Stargard (#13) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Twarde Pierniki will play against HydroTruck Radom (#12) and is hoping to win this game.
