Regular Season Round 20: Tenerife - Burgos 83-88

There was an upset when higher ranked CB Canarias (12-8) lost to fourteenth ranked Burgos (8-12) in Tenerife 83-88 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But CB Canarias won third quarter 24-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Burgos well out of reach of CB Canarias shooting 71.7 percent from the field. They outrebounded CB Canarias 27-14 including a 22-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Burgos especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. CB Canarias was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American swingman Dominique Sutton (198-86, college: N.C.Central) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Alejandro Lopez (189-91) contributed with 15 points (perfect from the field making all six shots) for the winners. American point guard Davin White (185-81, college: CS Northridge) replied with 19 points and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and Guinea-Bissau-American center Colton Iverson (212-89, college: Colorado St., agency: Pensack Sports) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for CB Canarias. Five CB Canarias players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Burgos moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Estudiantes. Loser CB Canarias keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. Burgos will face Gran Canaria (#16) in Las Palmas in the next round. CB Canarias will play on the road against Zaragoza (#10) and hope to win that game.
