A very interesting game took place in Puebla. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Abejas (17-21) to seventh ranked Angeles (13-23) 73-72 on Tuesday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Abejas. The winners were led by Puerto Rican forward Carlos Lopez-Sosa (208-90, college: UNLV) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds and American power forward Bryan Davis (206-86, college: Texas A&M) supported him with 10 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. Even 16 points and 8 rebounds by American forward Onzie Branch (198-91, college: Gardner-Webb) did not help to save the game for Abejas. His fellow American import guard Spencer Williams (188-95, college: Wooster) added 13 points and 4 assists for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Angeles maintains seventh position with 13-23 record. Abejas at the other side keep the fifth place with 21 games lost. Angeles' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Soles in Mexicali and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Abejas will play at home against Panteras and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
