Second Stage Round 2: GOCOR-Sozh - RCOP Tsmoki 77-74

A very interesting game took place in Gomel. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of RCOP Tsmoki (2-17) to GOCOR-Sozh (3-17) 77-74 in the fight for the eighth place. RCOP Tsmoki cut a 17-point halftime deficit to three at the end of the game. GOCOR-Sozh forced 22 RCOP Tsmoki turnovers. Guard Timofey Verevkin (185-93) orchestrated the victory by scoring 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Power forward Aleksey Kovalev (207-0) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. Forward Jan Marynin (198-1) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds and Raman Gest (197-1) added 19 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists in the effort for RCOP Tsmoki. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. GOCOR-Sozh's next round opponent will be Rubon (#5) in Vitebsk and it may be quite challenging game. RCOP Tsmoki's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Minsk Impuls BGUIR.
