Regular Season Round 29: Kouvot - Ura Basket 102-98

Very expected game when 11th ranked Ura Basket (7-22) lost to sixth ranked Kouvot (13-13) in Kouvola 98-102. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Ura Basket won fourth quarter 26-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kouvot dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Ura Basket's 38. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American players dominated the game. The best player for the winners was forward Thomas Gipson (201-93, college: Kansas St.) who scored 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Brian Asbury (201-86, college: Miami, FL) chipped in 25 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Jesse Perry (200-89, college: Arizona, agency: Octagon Europe) produced 36 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds and point guard Stephen Croone (183-94, college: Furman) added 16 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kouvot maintains sixth place with 13-13 record. Newly promoted Ura Basket stay at the bottom position with 22 games lost. Kouvot's next round opponent will be league's leader Vilpas in Salo and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ura Basket will play at home against Lapuan Korikobrat (#8) and hope to win that game.
