Regular Season Round 1: Campo Mourao - Pato Basquete 95-90
Date: February 13, 2019
Very expected game when Pato Basquete (0-2) was defeated on the road by Campo Mourao (2-0) 95-90. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Pato Basquete was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Cesar Araujo (201-81) nailed 26 points for the winning side and American guard Wesley Russell (193-93, college: Ohio Christian) accounted for 18 points. Russell is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American point guard Dominic Phillips (180-91, college: Harris-Stowe St.) came up with 22 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import guard Isaac Thornton (190-91, college: Fairmont St.) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Pato Basquete in the defeat. Five Campo Mourao and four Pato Basquete players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Campo Mourao will play against Blumenau (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Pato Basquete will play against Londrina to get more than just one victory in their record.
