Regular Season Round 23: Gornik Walbrzych - Slask Wroclaw 75-72

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Slask (16-5) in Walbrzych on Wednesday night. Visitors were edged by eighth ranked Gornik (12-11) 75-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Slask. Gornik dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Slask's 24. It was a great evening for the former international center Piotr Niedzwiedzki (210-93) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds. Bartlomiej Ratajczak (197-91) helped adding 15 points. Point guard Norbert Kulon (187-92) responded with 17 points and the former international point guard Robert Skibniewski (183-83) scored 16 points. Slask's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Gornik moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Pruszkow and STK Czarni. Slask at the other side still keeps top position with five games lost. Gornik is looking forward to face higher ranked GKS Tychy (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Slask will play against Biofarm PZN (#11) and is hoping to win this game.
