No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Golden Stars (22-18) beat 17th ranked Gold Lions (9-31) in Jinan 106-92 on Friday. Golden Stars dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Gold Lions' 46. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Gold Lions' players. Lithuanian power forward Donatas Motiejunas (213-90) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. American point guard Ty Lawson (180-87, college: N.Carolina) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 assists for the winners. Golden Stars' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American-Filipino power forward Andray Blatche (211-86) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and guard DeShuai Shi (192-92) added 27 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Gold Lions. Four Gold Lions players scored in double figures. Golden Stars have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain eighth place with 22-18 record. Gold Lions lost eighth consecutive game. They dropped to the nineteenth position with 31 games lost. Golden Stars will face higher ranked Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (#4) in Hangzhou in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
