The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Soles as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Soles smashed 6th ranked Libertadores in Mexicali 110-76. Soles dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Libertadores' 34. They outrebounded Libertadores 49-28 including a 40-28 advantage in defensive rebounds. Soles shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 51.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Libertadores' players. The former international point guard Orlando Mendez-Valdez (175-86, college: W.Kentucky, agency: Pro Sports) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. American guard Kohl Meyer (190-93, college: Puget Sound) contributed with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Meyer is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Soles players scored in double figures. American point guard Anthony Moody (182-89, college: Mary) answered with 23 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import swingman Brandon Davis (198-88, college: Lamar, agency: Pro Sports) added 19 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Libertadores. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Libertadores at the other side keep the sixth place with 26 games lost. They share the position with Santos. Libertadores will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Soles will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Angeles in Puebla.
