The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Belize City: Defenders (#6) and Hurricanes (#4). Defenders (2-2) won against visiting Hurricanes (2-2) 76-72. 25 personal fouls committed by Hurricanes helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Nigel Jones (201-90, college: Talladega) who helped to win the game recording 12 points and 7 rebounds and the former international forward Darwin Leslie (191-81) who added 17 points during the contest. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side international guard Devin Daly (195-94, college: L.Superior) responded with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and American point guard Tyrie Orosco (196, college: Cent.Penn) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defenders moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Smart Belize H. Defenders is looking forward to face higher ranked Verdes (#3) in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Hurricanes will have a break next round.
