There was a minor upset when one of their biggest challengers Alcobendas (10-8) was outplayed at home by eighth ranked Real Canoe (10-8) 96-68 on Saturday. Real Canoe dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Alcobendas' 38. Point guard Macarena Roldan-Garcia (173-94) scored 21 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Grace Alonso-de-Armino (180-92, college: Freed-Hardeman, agency: ProDep Management) chipped in 21 points during the contest. Four Real Canoe players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American center Erika Livermore (185-93, college: Fair Dickinson) with 22 points and 5 rebounds and her fellow American import guard Sierra Moore (180-94, college: Penn St.) scored 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Real Canoe moved-up to seventh place in Group B, which they share with defeated Alcobendas. Real Canoe will face Genero (#10) in Las Palmas in the next round.
