Regular Season Round 15: Dubrava - Kastela 94-89

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Dubrava (10-4) beat 9th ranked Kastela (5-9) in Zagreb 94-89. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. It looked good early as Kastela took a 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Dubrava had a 24-13 second period charge getting the lead and Kastela was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 89-94. The best player for the winners was point guard Stipe Cubric (182-93) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points, 6 rebounds and 12 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Center Ante Smolic (207-93) chipped in 23 points and 8 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). At the other side the best for losing team was guard Marin Vrucinic (186-97) who recorded 20 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Toni Biocic (190-89) added 16 points respectively. Four Dubrava and five Kastela players scored in double figures. Kastela's coach Luka Zitko let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Newly promoted Dubrava maintains third place with 10-4 record behind leader Jazine. Kastela at the other side keeps the ninth position with nine games lost. Dubrava's next round opponent will be again Kastela (#9) in Kastela Sucurac which should be theoretically an easy game.
