Very predictable result when third ranked Gernika (15-5) won against at home 8th ranked Maquinaria Ensino (8-12) 80-74. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Gernika players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. The best player for the winners was Lithuanian guard Kamile Nacickaite (181-89, college: Drexel) who scored 22 points. Canadian-British guard Rachael Vanderwal (175-83, college: Boston U.) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Gernika's coach Mario Lopez allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Italian forward Marzia Tagliamento (182-96) produced 21 points and American-Irish forward Fiona ODwyer (182-91, college: Emmanuel, MA) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Gernika and five Maquinaria Ensino players scored in double figures. Gernika maintains third position with 15-5 record having four points less than leader Girona. Newly promoted Maquinaria Ensino keeps the eighth place with 12 games lost. Gernika's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Universitario de Ferrol (#14) on the road which should be an easy win for them. Maquinaria Ensino will play against the league's leader Argon Uni Girona (#1) and hope to win that game.
