Regular Season Round 40: Fukushima - Tokyo Z 66-82

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when one of their biggest challengers Fukushima (18-23) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Tokyo Z (15-26) 82-66 on Saturday. Tokyo Z outrebounded Fukushima 44-19 including a 31-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Jahmar Thorpe (198-84, college: Houston) fired a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. The other American import center Nigel Spikes (208-89, college: Marshall) chipped in a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds. Vincentian power forward Nyika Williams (203-87, college: Pacific) produced 17 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Shinya Murakami (172-91) added 15 points, 5 assists and 5 steals respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tokyo Z maintains fifth position with 15-26 record. Fukushima lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 23 games lost. Tokyo Z will have a break next round. Fukushima will play again at home against Tokyo Z (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
