Regular Season Round 21: Mondragon - Ordizia-Basoa 78-68

There was no surprise when 13th ranked Ordizia-Basoa (3-14) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Mondragon (12-5) 78-68 on Saturday. Mondragon made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was power forward Martin Buesa (204-88) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds. American center Zach Kirschbaum (208-93, college: Trinity Intern.) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Eneko Duran (191-90) who recorded 17 points and 8 rebounds and forward Peru Arrondo (188-97) added 10 points respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Mondragon. They maintain fourth place in Group A-A with 12-5 record. Loser Ordizia-Basoa keeps the thirteenth position with 14 games lost. Mondragon will face bottom-ranked Goierri (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Ordizia-Basoa will play against Santurtzi and hope to win that game.
