No shocking result in a game when first ranked Ponferrada CDP (13-4) smashed at home 8th ranked PBB (9-8) 107-52 on Saturday. Ponferrada CDP dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to PBB's 36 and made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. They outrebounded PBB 52-15 including a 15-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Ponferrada CDP especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. The best player for the winners was American Sean McDonell (203-95) who scored 26 points and 4 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Canadian swingman Taevaunn Prince (191-91, college: Missouri So.) chipped in 26 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Lucas Vaquero (185-89) who recorded 14 points and Victor Alonso (196-94) added 8 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Ponferrada CDP. They maintain first place in Group A-B with 13-4 record. Newly promoted PBB keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. Ponferrada CDP will face league's second-placed Culleredo on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. PBB will play against Chantada (#4) and hope to win that game.
