Regular Season Round 35: Toyoda Gosei - Kagoshima 101-84

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Toyoda Gosei (21-7) beat 8th ranked Kagoshima (11-17) in Aichi 101-84. Toyoda Gosei dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Kagoshima's 38. They outrebounded Kagoshima 41-21 including a 29-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Toyoda Gosei players were unselfish on offense dishing 33 assists comparing to just 20 passes made by Kagoshima's players. It was a great evening for American Patrick Simon (203-92, college: Seattle Pacific) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds. American-Irish Brian Voelkel (196-92, college: Vermont) helped adding 11 points, 10 rebounds and 15 assists. American forward Shelton Boykin (198-92, college: Angelo St.) responded with 22 points and Kiichi Kawakami (188-95) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Toyoda Gosei maintains second place with 21-7 record having four points less than leader Tokyo Excel. Kagoshima lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 17 games lost. Toyoda Gosei will play against Saitama Broncos (#6) on the road in the next round. Kagoshima will play against the league's leader Tokyo Excel. and hopes to get back on the winning track.
