Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Carbajosa (7-10) was edged at home by sixth ranked Gijon Basket (11-6) 62-59 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was Canadian forward Ryan Ejim (201-93, college: Carleton) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. American power forward Malik Wineglass (203-93, college: Harris-Stowe St.) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Gabriel Roman (185-97) who recorded 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Olaniyi Akinkugbe added 12 points and 9 rebounds respectively. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Gijon Basket. They moved-up to fifth place in Group A-B, which they share with Estudiantes L. Loser Carbajosa dropped to the bottom position with ten games lost. Gijon Basket will face Rosalia (#13) in Santiago de Camp. in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Carbajosa will play on the road against Leon and hope to win that game.
