Regular Season Round 22: Desio - Faenza 66-95

Very expected game when 16th ranked Desio (3-19) was crushed at home by fourth ranked Faenza (15-7) 95-66 on Sunday. Faenza outrebounded Desio 39-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 51.7 percentage. Point guard Carlo Fumagalli (188-96) scored 22 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists (perfect from downtown making all five shots) to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Mattia Venucci (188-90) chipped in 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Five Faenza players scored in double figures. At the losing side power forward Giovanni Lenti (200-96) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 17 rebounds (made all of his twelve free throws !!!) and naturalized American swingman Xavier Brown (196-91, agency: SPORTlab Agency) scored 13 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Faenza moved-up to third place in B, which they share with Orzinuovi. Desio lost sixteenth consecutive game. They keep the sixteenth position with 19 games lost. Faenza will face Vicenza (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Desio will play against Orzinuovi (#3) and hope to win that game.
