Regular Season Round 22: Battipaglia - Pozzuoli 63-96

Rather expected game when bottom-ranked Battipaglia (0-22) was crushed at home by fourteenth ranked Pozzuoli (5-17) 96-63 on Sunday. Pozzuoli dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Battipaglia's 26. They outrebounded Battipaglia 55-24 including a 18-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Pozzuoli looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Battipaglia's players. Fatih Mehmedoviq had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Francesco Errico (192-90) chipped in 16 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) during the contest. Four Pozzuoli players scored in double figures. Pozzuoli's coach Mauro Serpico felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side guard Alessio Ronconi (192-95) responded with 21 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and point guard Diego Martino (167-93) scored 22 points. Newly promoted Pozzuoli maintains fourteenth position in B with 5-17 record, which they share with Lugo. Loser Battipaglia still closes the standings with 22 games lost. Pozzuoli will face league's second-placed Palestrina in Roma in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Battipaglia will play on the road against Olimpia Matera (#4) having rather not much hope for a victory.
