Second Stage Round 1: Holon - Ashdod 68-86

The biggest surprise of round 1 was guest Ashdod's (13-6) easy road victory over Holon (12-7) 86-68 on Monday evening. They outrebounded Holon 41-28 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Ashdod especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Center Danielle Adams (185-89, college: Texas A&M) fired a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Chelsea Hopkins (173-90, college: San Diego St.) chipped in 6 points, 9 rebounds and 12 assists. Ashdod's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Shae Kelley (185-91, college: Minnesota, agency: Two Points) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds and forward Jordan Hooper (188-92, college: Nebraska) added 19 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Ashdod is looking forward to face Bnot Hertzeliya (#6) on the road in the next round. Holon will play against Petah Tikva and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
