Regular Season Round 23: Kouvot - Catz 45-63

The biggest surprise of round 23 was guest Catz Lappeenranta's (15-9) easy road victory over Kouvottaret (#5) 63-45 on Wednesday evening. The guests trailed by 8 points at the halftime before their 41-15 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Catz Lappeenranta dominated on the defensive end, holding Kouvottaret to just 7 points in fourth quarter. The best player for the winners was American forward Aleighsa Welch (183-93, college: S.Carolina, agency: Two Points) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists. Her fellow American import point guard Valencia McFarland (163-91, college: Mississippi) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Ugandan power forward Claire Lamunu (185-93, college: Vanguard) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 17 rebounds and American swingman Camille Zimmerman (184-95, college: Columbia) added 8 points and 12 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Kouvottaret's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Catz Lappeenranta have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Kouvottaret at the other side keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. Catz Lappeenranta are looking forward to face Espoo Team (#4) on the road in the next round. Kouvottaret will play against Helmi Basket and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
