Regular Season Round 20: HBA-Marsky - FoKoPo 90-101

There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Forssan Koripojat (6-13) beat higher ranked HBA-Marsky (12-6) in Helsinki 101-90 on Thursday. Forssan Koripojat looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American guard Isaac Williams (195-94, college: Miss.Valley St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 37 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 7 assists. The other American import center Gilbert Talbot (208-94, college: LSU-Alexandria) contributed with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 18 rebounds and 7 assists (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. Williams is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Forssan Koripojat players scored in double figures. Swingman Erik Sajantila (195-1) replied with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and guard Tomas Pihlajamaki (190-0) added 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for HBA-Marsky. HBA-Marsky's coach Antti Koskelainen tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Forssan Koripojat maintains tenth position in Division with 6-13 record. Loser HBA-Marsky keeps the fourth place with six games lost. Forssan Koripojat will face league's leader Lahti on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. HBA-Marsky will play against Oulun NMKY and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
