Regular Season Round 15: Angers - Chartres 82-59

The game between third ranked Chartres (10-5) and fifth ranked Angers (10-4) was the most important one in the last round on Friday night. Chartres was crushed by Angers in Angers 82-59. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Angers dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Chartres' 20. Angers forced 21 Chartres turnovers and outrebounded them 44-31 including 32 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Angers especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Shenita Landry (190-87, college: Temple) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Naturalized DR Congolese forward Lorraine Lokoka (184-89, agency: Basket Promotion Agency) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four Angers players scored in double figures. Angers' coach David Gautier felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Leah Metcalf (170-83, college: N.Carolina) who recorded 12 points, 7 assists and 4 steals and forward Kekelly Elenga (184-91) added 9 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Angers moved-up to second place, which they share with Toulouse. Chartres lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. They share it with Reims and Montbrison. Angers is looking forward to face Montbrison (#4) on the road in the next round. Chartres will play against the league's leader Charnay and is hoping to win this game.
