Important game to mention about took place in Veneto. Fourteenth ranked Ponzano (7-14) saved a 1-point victory at home edging higher ranked Moncalieri (14-7) 83-82 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Ponzano forced 21 Moncalieri turnovers. Moncalieri was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Australian swingman Alex Ciabattoni (183-94) who saved her team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Forward Giulia Brotto (182-91) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Four Ponzano players scored in double figures. Arianna Landi (178-96, agency: LBM Management) answered with 6 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists and Ilenia Cordola (183-96) added 18 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Moncalieri. Moncalieri's coach Paolo Terzolo tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Ponzano maintains fourteenth place in A2 with 7-14 record. Moncalieri at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. Ponzano will face higher ranked Vicenza (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Moncalieri will play against Varese and hope to win that game.
