Regular Season Round 42: Sendai 89ers - Shinshu BW 70-72

Second-ranked Sendai 89ers (26-17) made lots of trouble for first ranked Shinshu BW (35-8) on Saturday. The visitors from Nagano managed to secure only two-point victory 72-70. However their fans expected easier game. Shinshu BW forced 20 Sendai 89ers turnovers. Strangely Sendai 89ers outrebounded Shinshu BW 43-26 including 30 on the defensive glass. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was Anthony McHenry (202-83, college: Georgia Tech) who scored 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Swingman Richard Roby (198-85) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was center Daniel Miller (211-91, college: Georgia Tech) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points, 21 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Jerome Tillman (201-87, college: Ohio, agency: Inception Sports) added 15 points and 13 rebounds respectively. Shinshu BW have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 35-8 record. Sendai 89ers lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the third place with 17 games lost. Shinshu BW will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sendai 89ers will play again at home against the league's leader Shinshu BW and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
