Regular Season Round 43: Sendai 89ers - Shinshu BW 78-87

An interesting game for Shinshu BW (35-8) which played road game in Sendai against their biggest opponent Sendai 89ers (26-17). First ranked Shinshu BW managed to get a 9-point victory 87-78. Shinshu BW made 17-of-19 charity shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. It was a great evening for American center Wayne Marshall (211-86, college: Temple) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 16 rebounds. His fellow American import swingman Richard Roby (198-85) helped adding 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Shinshu BW's coach Michael Katsuhisa allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American center Daniel Miller (211-91, college: Georgia Tech) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Masato Tsukino (178-88) scored 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Shinshu BW have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 35-8 record. Sendai 89ers lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the third position with 17 games lost. Shinshu BW will play against Kagawa FA (#6) in Takamatsu in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Sendai 89ers will play on the road against Bambitious Nara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
